About this syllabus
This syllabus covers both English Confidence courses: Foundations (8 lessons) and Builder (8 lessons) — 16 lessons total, approximately 3.5 hours of guided self-learning. Designed for Tamil-speaking children aged 7–12.
Part 1 — English Confidence: Foundations (8 lessons · ~1.7 hours)
Builds basic English vocabulary, grammar patterns, and reading confidence through Tamil-supported practice.
- Use greetings correctly based on time of day
- Introduce yourself: 'My name is...' and 'I am... years old'
- Name family members in English
- Use pronouns 'he', 'she', 'they' correctly
- Name 15+ everyday objects
- Use 'a', 'an', and 'the' correctly
- Know 15+ common verbs
- Build S-V-O sentences: 'I eat rice'
- Know 15+ adjectives
- Place adjectives before the noun
- Use What, Where, Who, When, How, Why
- Form questions with correct word order
- Name all days and months
- Tell time: o'clock, half past, quarter
- Read a 60–80 word passage with understanding
- Answer comprehension questions using Who/What/Where/When
Part 2 — English Confidence: Builder (8 lessons · ~1.8 hours)
Extends Foundations into real fluency: tenses, negation, conjunctions, possessives, conversations, and paragraph writing.
- Use regular past tense: walk → walked
- Use irregular past: go → went, eat → ate
- Use 'will' for decisions and predictions
- Use 'going to' for planned actions
- Use in, on, at for location
- Use under, between, next to, behind
- Use don't/doesn't for present negation
- Use didn't for past, won't for future
- Use 'and' to add, 'but' for contrast
- Use 'because' for reasons, 'so' for results
- Use my/your/his/her before a noun
- Use mine/yours/his/hers standing alone
- Ask for help politely
- Express opinions and give directions
- Write 6–8 connected sentences
- Use mixed tenses, conjunctions, and prepositions
