About TamilGenius Lab

We build free, bilingual, self-paced courses for Tamil-speaking children — so every child can learn the subjects that matter, in the language that feels like home.

Our Mission

Children learn faster and deeper in their mother tongue. Yet most quality STEM resources are in English — leaving Tamil-speaking children at a disadvantage before they even begin.

TamilGenius Lab exists to close that gap. We create structured, interactive courses that teach real subjects — Abacus, Vedic Maths, AI, and more — entirely in Tamil, with key English terms woven in naturally so children are ready for any exam or board.

All courses, lessons, tools, and explorers are free — no login, no ads, no paywalls. For parents and teachers who want additional printable practice material, we offer optional support packs at a one-time cost. The learning itself stays free, always.

Who We Serve

  • Children aged 6–14 studying in CBSE, Matriculation, or State Board
  • Tamil families in Tamil Nadu, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Malaysia, UK, Canada, and worldwide
  • Parents who want strong maths and thinking skills for their children
  • Teachers who need ready-made bilingual teaching materials
  • Homeschooling families following a Tamil-first curriculum

Why This Exists

TamilGenius Lab was built by a parent who saw the same gap that many Tamil families face: quality structured learning materials exist in English, but almost nothing comparable exists in Tamil. Children who think in Tamil were being asked to learn foundational skills in a language that added an extra barrier before the real learning could begin.

Every course on this platform is designed with a specific pedagogical structure — not random tutorials, but a sequenced curriculum with learning objectives, guided practice, assessment prompts, parent notes, printable worksheets, and spaced-repetition revision tracking. The abacus curriculum follows international soroban methodology. The Vedic Maths course is built on the original Tirthaji sutras. The AI and Creative Thinking courses are grounded in critical thinking frameworks used in established educational programmes.

There are no ads, no data collection, and no investor-driven growth targets. Optional premium packs exist to fund the platform and expand what we can offer — but every course, lesson, tool, and explorer remains free, with no login required.

How We Build

Tamil-First, Bilingual

Core concepts in Tamil with essential English terms. Children learn deeply in Tamil and pick up the English vocabulary naturally.

Interactive by Design

Every lesson has quizzes, matching activities, fill-in-the-blank exercises, or timed drills. Learning by doing, not passive reading.

No Login, No Lock-in

Progress is saved in the browser. Children can pick up where they left off without creating an account or sharing any personal data.

Research-Grounded

Mother-tongue instruction improves conceptual understanding. Our abacus curriculum follows soroban methodology, Vedic Maths uses original Tirthaji sutras, and revision timing is based on spaced-repetition research.

How Learning Works

Every lesson follows a consistent structure designed to build real understanding — not just exposure. Children move through a clear sequence and never advance on passive reading alone.

  1. 1. Teaching

A guided interactive explanation introduces the concept in Tamil, with key English terms. Typically 8–12 minutes.

  2. 2. Key Points

A summary card highlights the most important ideas and terminology — useful for quick revision later.

  3. 3. Interactive Practice

Quizzes, matching activities, fill-in-the-blank exercises, guided problem-solving, or timed drills. Every lesson has at least one. Children get immediate feedback on each answer.

  4. 4. Mastery Reflection

After practice, the platform shows the child's current mastery state for that lesson — completed, revisit soon, or mastered — and suggests what to do next.

  5. 5. Revision & Progression

Lessons that haven't been revisited in a set period are flagged for review. The next lesson unlocks only when the child is ready. Spaced repetition is built into the system, not left to chance.

This cycle repeats for every lesson in every course. There are no shortcuts — but the pace is entirely the child's own.

What mastery means here

Each lesson tracks a mastery state — not a single pass/fail score, but a reflection of where the child is in their understanding. Revision is normal and expected, not a sign of failure.

Completed

The child has finished the lesson and its interactive practice. A solid first pass.

Revisit Soon

The system suggests revisiting this lesson soon — typically because the quiz score was below the confidence threshold.

Revisit

It has been a while since this lesson was practiced. Spaced repetition flags it for review.

Mastered

The child scored well and hasn't needed a revisit for several weeks. This is genuine, earned confidence.

How We Use Technology

TamilGenius Lab uses AI as a development tool — to help build curriculum structure, generate practice problems, and improve content quality. But the platform children interact with is deterministic and structured, not open-ended AI.

Ask TamilGenius is a search engine, not a chatbot

It matches your question against a structured index of formulas, courses, tools, and reference material. Every answer comes from our curated content — not from a language model generating responses.

No open-ended AI chat for children

Children never interact with an AI that generates unpredictable responses. Every quiz, drill, and activity has predetermined correct answers and structured feedback.

No data leaves the browser

Progress, mastery tracking, and all learning data are stored in localStorage on the child's device. Nothing is sent to a server. No accounts, no analytics cookies, no tracking.

AI assists content creation, not content delivery

We use AI tools to draft lesson structures, verify problem accuracy, and check curriculum coverage. The final content is reviewed and approved by the course author before publication.
