Let's Learn
What you will learn today
Write a complete paragraph combining past, present, future tense, conjunctions, prepositions, and your own ideas.
Everything you've learned — in one paragraph
This is the capstone lesson. You will write a paragraph of 6–8 sentences about yourself or your day, using skills from every lesson in this course. This is not a test — it is proof of how much you've grown.
இது இறுதி பாடம். இந்த படிப்பின் எல்லா திறன்களையும் பயன்படுத்தி 6–8 வாக்கியங்கள் எழுதுவீர்கள். இது சோதனை அல்ல — நீங்கள் எவ்வளவு வளர்ந்தீர்கள் என்பதின் சான்று.
What makes a good paragraph?
A paragraph is a group of connected sentences about ONE topic. Not random sentences — connected ones that tell a story or describe something.
- 1. Start with a topic sentence — what is this paragraph about?
- 2. Add details — use time words, descriptions, reasons
- 3. Mix tenses — past, present, future make your writing natural
- 4. Join ideas — use and, but, because, so for smooth flow
- 5. End with a closing thought — summary or future plan
ஒரு பத்தி என்பது ஒரு தலைப்பைப் பற்றிய தொடர்புடைய வாக்கியங்கள் — சீரற்ற வாக்கியங்கள் அல்ல.
📐 Example paragraph: 'My Week'
Read this example — it uses skills from every lesson in this course:
- 1My name is Kavitha and I am 10 years old. (Foundations: introduction + conjunction)
- 2I live in Chennai with my family. (Prepositions: in)
- 3Last Monday, I went to school and played with my friends. (Past tense + conjunction)
- 4My favourite subject is science because I like experiments. (Possessive + conjunction + opinion)
- 5Yesterday, I didn't finish my homework so I will do it today. (Negation + past + future + conjunction)
- 6Tomorrow, I am going to visit my grandmother's house. (Future tense + possessive)
- 7Her house is next to a big park. (Possessive + preposition)
- 8I think this week will be very fun! (Opinion + future)
இந்த உதாரணத்தைப் படியுங்கள் — இது இந்த படிப்பின் எல்லா திறன்களையும் பயன்படுத்துகிறது:
The read-aloud test
After writing your paragraph, read it aloud. If it sounds natural and flows smoothly, your writing is good. If a sentence sounds awkward, try rewriting it using a different conjunction or time word.
எழுதிய பின் சத்தமாக படியுங்கள். இயல்பாக ஒலிக்கிறதா? ஒரு வாக்கியம் விசித்திரமாக ஒலித்தால், வேறு conjunction அல்லது time word முயற்சியுங்கள்.
Now you write!
Write 6–8 sentences about 'My Best Day' or 'My Week'. Use: at least one past tense sentence, one present tense, one future tense, one conjunction (and/but/because/so), and one preposition (in/on/at/under/next to).
Challenge Round
Advanced challenge: check your own work
After writing, check: (1) Did I use past tense at least once? (2) Did I use future tense at least once? (3) Did I use a conjunction? (4) Did I use a preposition? (5) Does it sound natural when I read it aloud? If you answered 'yes' to all five, you are a confident English writer!
