Mental Bridge Practice Pack
14 printable pages for Mental Abacus Bridge — flash visualization drills, mental addition sequences, and independent practice sheets
Why this pack exists
The Mental Abacus Bridge course builds the mental image and teaches the first mental bead movements. But the mental image only becomes reliable through daily repetition — the kind that happens away from a screen, in short focused sessions. These 14 pages give your child a structured daily practice that builds from guided flash drills to fully independent mental calculation. The self-assessment sheet lets both you and your child track which skills are strong and which need more repetition.
When to use it
Start after your child completes Lesson 2 (See the Abacus) in the Mental Bridge course. Use the flash visualization sheets alongside Lessons 3–4. Start the mental addition sheets with Lesson 5. Use the independent practice sheets after completing Lesson 6 (capstone). The self-assessment tracking sheet is used throughout — fill in one row after each practice session. Class use: flash visualization drills work well as whole-class warm-ups — show the bead image on a projector, then have students write the number. Print individual sheets for independent practice time.
What's included
Show a bead image for 1.5 seconds, cover it, write the number. Builds single-digit then two-digit recall.
Hold a number in your mental image, add another, write the result. No physical abacus allowed.
No prompts — just problems. Your child decides which mental technique to apply.
One row per session. Rate image clarity, scan speed, and mental addition confidence after each practice.
How to run a 5-minute session: timing, what to say, when to stop, when to repeat.
